2014 Mother’s Day Card | Tips to Make a CAS Card

This Friday’s post is dedicated to all the moms out there.

Lately, I’ve been more short on time and so I was worried about making the perfect Mother’s Day card. I needed the following requirements to make my card:

  1. Easy to duplicate (one for my ma and the Beau’s mom)
  2. Something elegant
  3. Mailable

I find that the easiest way to make clean and simple (CAS) cards is to follow these rules:

  • Find a sketch that will work
  • Pick out some bold patterned paper or bold colours to play with
  • Use minimal embellishments
  • Use white space

As I wanted to make sure I had plenty of mailing time, I made my card a couple weeks ago and found that the #112 of Retro Sketches was the layout I wanted to follow.

I picked out Stampin’ Up’s Fresh Prints paper pad as I found the patterns to be bold, fresh and perfect for mom! I gave the card a large white border so that the center of the card was the focus and I used rhinestone gems to give it enough bling. The card came together pretty quickly and I was able to replicate the card pieces so that a few other of my friends could also make the same card to give to their moms. Easy peasy.

Do you have a card process when you start your projects? I’d love to hear how you work! Enjoy your weekend.
