Happy Planner, Hero Arts and Sweet Stamp Shop | Rainbow Week 4

12 Month Happy Planner January Sweet Stamp Shop Thanh 4

The holidays are over; winter seems to be dragging. I cure my self diagnosed seasonal sadness by stamping and getting organized! For my January Week Four layout, I really wanted to play with some bright colours to help with my winter blues. I was inspired by Meredith’s planner layout from the previous week and wanted to recreate that rainbow brightness in my own. I gathered up my selected  supplies and here’s how my layout turned out.

When I first envisioned this layout, thoughts of Cloud Cuckoo and a happy pixelated unicorn came to mind. My favourite planner stamps are from Hero Arts/Kelly Purkey and Sweet Stamp Shop and that’s what I’ve mainly used to create this week’s spread. I’m a very minimalist planner and I like keeping my layouts very flat. But this week, I really wanted to up my game and because I don’t have washi in the colours you see here, I had to use strips of paper to create my triple rainbows. It’s important to me that my layouts are inspirational and bright; making it awesome to open up every day of the week!

What’s in your planner layout this week? Not a stamper or person who stickers their pages – that’s ok! Show me what you got; I’ll hold you accountable. HA! Link me up; I’d love to see!

Planning My Way Through 2016 | The Happy Planner 12 Month Box Kit

It has been an awesome but harried start to 2016 so far! To be quite honest, the busyness has never stopped since the start of planning my wedding last year. After the wedding in October, the Mister and I took at least a month recover and then after that, it was the holiday season. Then the preparations to go to Anaheim, California for the Craft + Hobby Association show began. Now comes the task of getting back to routine and settling into 2016. Up until last week, I was still writing “2015” on certain things. Oops!

I will be focused this year and make sure that I cross off a bunch of my to-do lists; ensuring that “someday” will be tomorrow and that it then becomes my part of my “done list!” Bucket list, goals, intentions, resolutions  (<– yuck, I hate that word) — however you put it, I have to set them in writing and have a tangible checklist to see them through. I’ve tried the digital thing and it’s really not my jam. Not to discredit digital, but there’s something so fabulous about putting pen to paper, checking/scratching things off and just in general, the simplicity of just mind dumping things on to paper!

I started seeing these bright planners called The Happy Planner™ pop up into social media and it got me curious — another planner, can it be? I started doing my research and quickly found out that one of the Michaels stores near me was carrying the product line and that they also had the limited edition kits as well. I set out one morning to see these popular planners myself and was surprised that the pages inside were removable – perfect for stamping! There’s always the choice of a ring binder system, but for me – who works an office job – I like travelling with my planner and find the binder system too bulky. I left with the 12 Month Box Kit as well as the limited edition Fitness Planner kit and promptly posted an Instagram photo of my goods when I got home.

Now that we’re in the last week of January, I can happily say that I’m still enjoying The Happy Planner™. In the past, I’ve gone just a week with using a planner and it’s made it’s way to the graveyard. I know it’s fair to say that this disc bound planner is the one for me!

January’s layouts were inspired by my love of the simple colour scheme of black, white and gold. I prefer keeping my pages fairly flat so I will gravitate towards stamping over using stickers and embellishments. Being a cardmaker, stamping in my pages seems like a natural occurrence over using lots of different stickers. My stamping isn’t always perfect, but all I do is remind myself that a new week follows and I won’t have to go back and look at the old one unless for reference or I did some memory keeping on the layout.

Here are the things that stand out for me and why I’m choosing The Happy Planner™ to organize my life:

  • Disc bound – making the pages easy to remove and place back which makes for very easy stamping
  • Price – the planners are very reasonably priced at $24.99
  • Accessories – you can get a plethora of stickers, note pages, sticky notes, etc for that coordinate with the planners
  • Customization (soon to be very easy) – You can either purchase different planner covers and swap them as needed but soon you’ll be able to punch out your own pages AND make your own custom covers with the punch that is coming out on February 1!

Tell me: How are you keeping organized in 2016? What planner(s) are you using and what do you like most about them? I’d love to hear what’s working for you and any thoughts you have on the planning world.
